Michèle Delaunay

Michèle Delaunay is born on January 8, 1947. Hospital doctor, she was responsible of the Dermatology and Cancer Unit at Saint André Hospital until June 2007.

She entered the active political life during the municipal elections in Bordeaux in 2001. She was in second position and the first woman on Gilles Savary's list. From 2001 to 2007, she sat on the Municipal Council of Bordeaux within the socialist group.

In March 2004, she was elected General Councilor of the 2nd canton of Bordeaux "Grand Parc - Jardin public" then re-elected in March 2011. She resigned from this mandate on August 31, 2012 in favor of her replacement, Jean-Baptiste Borthury.

Competing with the designated successor of Alain Juppé (Hugues Martin, deputy mayor of Bordeaux) at the time of the partial legislative of November 2004, she lost a few votes short (500 votes) and obtains the best result since the war for a socialist candidate in a constituency, the 2nd, historically on the right.

In June 2007, she won in the second round over Alain Juppe with 50.93% of the votes (18,382 votes) and was re-elected in June 2012.

On May 16, 2012, called by Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault, she became Minister Responsible for the Elderly and for Autonomy and worked out the bill for the adaptation of society to aging.

On June 17, 2012, she was re-elected MP for the 2nd district. Her deputy, Vincent Feltesse, stayed in the Assembly until the resignation of the Ayrault government on March 31, 2014. She recovered her position as MP from May 2, 2014 to June 20, 2017.

In 2nd position on the list brought by Vincent Feltesse to the municipal elections of March 2014, she is municipal councilor of Bordeaux within the socialist group and councilor at the Metropolis of Bordeaux.

Michèle DELAUNAY has also published several books ("La ronde droite" by Gallimard, "l’Ambiguité est le dernier plaisir" (Actes Sud) and "Jardins de Bordeaux" a work of texts and photographs around the public gardens of Bordeaux ( in collaboration with MC Leng for the photographs) (Fanlac). She held a weekly column for 10 years in "La Republique des Pyrénées". In 2007, she published "l’Ephémérité Durable du Blog " at Editions du Bord de l Water.
